POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--Janet M. Corcoran, died Thursday, Dec. 10, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass. She was 59.
Corcoran was born in Poughkeepsie and retired as a teaching assistant at Highland Elementary School in 2011 and previously worked at St. Francis Hospital until 1987. She received an associate degree in medical assistance from Dutchess Community College in 1976.
She was an avid traveler and enjoyed outdoor activities. She also was active in her church community as a volunteer.
She is survived by her mother, Joan Taranta of Highland and her brother, Steven Taranta of Jenkinsburg, Georgia.
She is predeceased by her father, Louis Taranta.
